Senate District 17 (Longmont)
In 2018, Mike Foote was elected to represent Senate District 17. He currently serves as Chair of the State, Veterans, and Military Affairs Committee and is a member of the Appropriations Committee, Transportation and Energy Committee, and the Committee on Legal Services.
Mike formerly served for six years in the Colorado House of Representatives on behalf of Eastern Boulder County. In the House, he worked to protect survivors of sexual assault, increase voter access, bring more vocational and technical associate degree programs to Colorado’s K-12 schools, reform oil and gas rules, and protect our environment against climate change. Prior to his time as a legislator, Senator Foote was Deputy District Attorney in Durango and Boulder, a volunteer for several local campaigns, and a member of the Truman National Security project.
Senator Foote received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University, his Master’s degree from the University of Denver, and his law degree from the University of Colorado. Mike and his wife, Heidi, have lived in Lafayette for 13 years and have two young daughters. They all can be found enjoying Boulder County’s open spaces as often as possible.
