Senate District 17 (Longmont)
Senator Matt Jones was elected to his first Senate term representing Senate District 17 in November 2012. He served three terms in the House from 1987 until 1993, also serving as House Assistant Minority Leader during that time, and he won another House race in 2010 to represent House District 12. In December 2016, Senator Jones was appointed to serve as the Deputy Minority Leader for Conservation, Clean Energy, and Climate Change.
Today, he is a member of the Agriculture, Natural Resources, & Energy Committee; the Transportation Legislation Review Committee; the Water Resources Review Committee; the Flood Disaster Study Committee; the Joint Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee; the Joint State Veterans & Military Affairs Committee; and the Legislative Council.
Senator Jones is a proven leader committed to working collaboratively and finding new solutions to create good jobs for the people of Colorado. Having twice survived cancer, Matt knows how to face adversity, keep hope and find solutions to come back stronger. Senator Jones lives in Louisville with his wife, Shari. Their daughter, Jessica, recently graduated from college.
