Senate District 19 (Arvada and Westminster)
An Arvada resident with a deep background in education and public school advocacy, Rachel Zenzinger was elected to the State Senate in 2016. Rachel had previously represented the district when she was appointed to serve in the State Senate for the 2014 legislative session. She currently serves on the Senate Education, Transportation, and Statutory Revision Committees. Sen. Zenzinger is also a member of the School Finance Interim Committee and the CDOT Efficiency and Accountability Committee.
Rachel’s staunch commitment to public service is the direct result of her upbringing on the Western Slope, where her family and friends preached the good of the community. In a family of nine children, she quickly learned the importance of self-sufficiency and the value of hard work. Rachel believes that a healthy middle class is the backbone of the state and the nation. Her father is a plumber and a pipefitter, and her mother’s side of the family boasts a long line of teachers.
She was named Legislator of the Year by the Colorado Community College System, and was recognized as a Friend of Adult Education by the Colorado Adult Education Professional Association for her legislative work. Sen. Zenzinger also received the Colorado Association of Bilingual Educators President’s award for her work on implementing the Seal of Biliteracy.
Before coming to the State Senate, Rachel was elected twice to serve on the Arvada City Council, where she also filled the role of Mayor Pro Tem. Rachel currently resides in Arvada where she is raising two children.
