Senate Democratic Internships 

The Colorado Senate Democratic Caucus is looking for talented interns to assist our State Senators during the 2024 legislative session. Being a legislative intern is an exciting opportunity that puts you in the middle of Colorado’s political action.

Interns get first-hand experience interacting with the legislative process and have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the everyday functions of a Senate office. Intern tasks may include helping Senators prepare for committee meetings, drafting constituent responses, organizing outreach events, and assisting the Senator’s legislative aide. Candidates should have a strong interest and understanding of state politics. Schedule for internships are flexible and interns are expected to work at least 10 hours per week. All internships are unpaid. 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills and “people skills”

  • Interest in Colorado politics and statewide issues

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills 

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative

  • Good judgment and flexibility

  • Ability to manage stress in a fast-paced environment

  • Eagerness to develop leadership skills and openness to feedback

Preferred Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of Colorado government

  • Computer skills (Microsoft , Google Suites, VAN, web skills preferred, but not required)

  • Copywriting and/or graphic design skills

  • Experience with event planning and execution

  • Experience and comfort managing social media accounts (Facebook, X and Instagram)

Internships may start anytime between December 2023 and January 2024 and run through the end of the 2024 legislative session, depending on the Senator’s schedule.
