Marc Snyder

Senate District 12

Senator Marc Snyder is a long-term resident of Manitou Springs, Colorado, having moved there with his wife, Kelly, in 1994. Senator Snyder is an attorney whose practice focuses on wills, trusts, and estates law, specializing in helping families with adults or children who have disabilities. This area of law has been his focus since he opened the doors to his practice on West Colorado Avenue in 1995 and fulfills a long-held desire he has always had to protect and defend the rights of citizens with special needs. Snyder always had a keen interest in community issues and has worked tirelessly throughout his adult life in roles that allowed him to participate in making the world better. He was elected city-wide five times in Manitou Springs: twice as an at-large city councilor and three times as Mayor. During Senator Snyder’s time as mayor, Manitou Springs and the surrounding area was threatened by the Waldo Canyon Fire. As mayor, Snyder led Manitou Springs in the subsequent fire and flood recovery. He became a strong proponent in emergency preparedness and wildfire mitigation.

In 2018 Snyder was elected to the Colorado State House, where he served for six years, with a strong focus on wildfire preparedness and mitigation. During his tenure as state representative, Snyder served as the House Uniform Law Commissioner, and on the interim wildfire committee. Snyder served as a Member of the Legal Services Committee, House Business Affairs and Labor Committee, and Judiciary Committee. Finally, he served as Member, Vice-chair and Chair of the House Finance Committee.

Over the past two decades, Senator Snyder has served as a leader and a member of more than a dozen county and regional entities working to improve local transportation, health, economic development, building, sustainability, urban renewal, restorative justice, and military care.

Snyder earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Emory University in 1982 and his J.D. Law Degree from Emory University School of Law in 1987. He still lives in Manitou Springs with his wife, Kelly, where they raised two daughters.
