AURORA, CO - Senate Majority Leader Rhonda Fields, D-Aurora, and Senator Janet Buckner, D-Aurora, today released the following joint statement upon news that Aurora will restart its search for a new police chief:
“Aurora deserves a police chief who values our entire community and will rebuild trust, and we are pleased that the city has chosen to restart its search for a new chief of police. Good policing is critical to keeping us all safe, and any future leader must have buy-in and support from everyone in our community. The city must use this opportunity to more deeply engage with the entire community as we work together to find a qualified and diverse set of candidates who truly meet Aurora’s needs.
